The college admissions process can be overwhelming, but we are here to help you through the deadlines and paperwork. We have also put together an Admissions Checklist to make sure you don't forget the most important items. Download this list and put it in your car, on your refrigerator, or on your bulletin board!
Schedule a Tour
A great way to get to know Jefferson College is with an individual visit to campus. Meet and talk with students and professors and tour the skills labs. Spend time in our Student Union, The Dog House, and visit the Bookstore. See all that the Roanoke community and the Roanoke Valley area of Virginia have to offer.
Your JCHS visit will include an interview with your admissions counselor and a campus tour. Visits may be scheduled for Mondays through Fridays from
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the calendar year. We encourage every prospective student to visit us and tour the College. In just about an hour you can talk with a counselor and tour the classrooms, learning resource center and laboratories.
If you would like to meet with a faculty member from a specific department, please let us know. Come see for yourself!
To make an appointment call: 1-(888)-985-8483 or fill up the form here.
Submit the Online Application
The online application is a fairly simple process, click here to get started.
Please note: You must apply to a specific program at Jefferson, not to the College in general. Your choice of programs matters. All of our programs are competitive and each will lead to a specific healthcare career. If you are undecided about your healthcare career of choice, call and speak to an admissions counselor.
If you are accepted into a program at Jefferson, we recommend that you deposit immediately to reserve your seat. All of our programs fill quickly, and sending in the deposit is your only guarantee of enrollment.
Fill out the FAFSA
Apply for a PIN (Personal Identification Number) at www.pin.ed.gov. You"ll need this PIN to electronically sign your FAFSA application.
The FAFSA can be submitted on or after January 1 for students enrolling in Fall. Tax information can be estimated if you submit the FAFSA prior to having completed tax forms. You then must send your official tax documents when you get them.

VA Residents-only: Submit the VTAG Application
Virginia Residents: The estimated amount of the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant can change from academic year to academic year. This amount is applied directly to your tuition. You must apply for these funds prior to July 31. It is highly recommended that you submit this application as soon as possible, after January 1. VTAG funds are limited.
Register for Classes
It's time to see your Academic Advisor and register for classes! We recommend that you register as quickly as you can once new student registration begins. Later-than-8 a.m. classes fill quickly.
Complete the Health History Packet
Most of our students are working in the clinical setting their first year at Jefferson. Due to close patient access in the healthcare setting, students are required to have documentation of immunizations, CPR training, and a recent physical exam.
You must have your Health History Packet completed before you can start your clinical rotations. The Health History Packet will be mailed to you once you submit your deposit. Don't delay filling out this important paperwork.
If you ever need information released from your student health record to another entity, you will need to complete a Medical Records Release Form. Click below to download a form.
New Student Orientation is a very important part of your first year at Jefferson. Orientation will help you transition into College and is what you need to start your year off right.
