Situational awareness is simply knowing what is happening around you.
Be mindful of those around you. Be aware. Don’t be too occupied with your phone. Even when walking in pairs or a group, don’t be too occupied in
conversation to not be aware of your surroundings.
Have keys ready when approaching your vehicle and lock doors as soon as inside.
Sit, stand, or walk in areas that allow you to watch others.
Be aware of exit doors in buildings and means of exiting a situation when outside. Such as if being approached, be prepared to cross the street, walk up
to a crowd of people, or go inside a business.
Don’t underestimate anyone.Even though most people around you may mean no harm, potentially anyone could.
