Dr. David Haynes began his OT career in South Carolina where he also received his training in Occupational Therapy. He soon returned to his roots here in Roanoke and was the first OT hired at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia. During his time there he developed their first OT Dept and was responsible for the development of OT services into the Acute Care and Outpatient settings as well. Dr. Haynes has been teaching at Jefferson College since 1992. He began his career here as the Director for the OT Assistant program and as an adjunct in the Bachelor’s OT program at that time. Upon completion of his doctorate work in 2007, he was responsible for developing the current Master’s level OT curriculum and served as the Director of that program until May, 2014. Dr. Haynes has experience in Physical Disabilities and Administration. He is an active participant with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) as well as the American Association of Occupational Therapy (AOTA)
