On Wednesday, April 24, 2013, JCHS hosted Alumni Night at the Salem Red Sox.
The event was held at Salem Memorial Ballpark in Salem, Virginia.
After a quick spring shower, the sun began peeking out, quickly drying off the ballpark!
As the sun came back out, we were even treated to a spectacular rainbow as our guests arrived!
JCHS Alumni and their families were invited to join us for a baseball game and picnic. Here, we see the grounds crew removing the tarp from the field after the rain.
Our guests were treated to a wonderful buffet of ballpark favorites includes hot dogs and hamburgers. We can see our rainbow in the background here, leading our alumni and friends to the food!
The JCHS event was held along the third base line in the picnic area.
Karen Layman, a JCHS faculty member and Alumni Association Board Member, brought Clarence Mathews to the game.

Glen Mayhew and Roxanne Wilson chat before the game. Both are JCHS alums and now JCHS employees!
Jessie Toms brought her son Jaxon to the game. Jessie is not only a current student at JCHS, but also a 2012 graduate and the President of the Student Senate.
Under the shelter, JCHS alumni and their families, along with current students enjoyed the picnic before the game.
JCHS staff members Susan Booth and Mona Thiss arrive at the ballpark.
Susan Booth brought Alex as one of her guests to the game. Here, he shows off his Angry Birds-inspired style!
JCHS Dean for Student Affairs Scott Hill with Catherine Turner, JCHS Resource Development Officer.
JCHS alum Lisha Osbourne and her guest sign in.
Just as the game was about to get underway, JCHS Associate Dean for Institutional Effectiveness Glen Mayhew and his son were caught hanging out and sharing a smile.
JCHS Nursing faculty member De-dee Foti arrives with her crew.
In this beautiful shot at the ballpark, we find current JCHS students (left to right) Troy Evans, Ashley Karnes, Brook-Lynn Vlevin and Alex Breeding.
Past Alumni Association President Sue Campbell (left), Catherine Turner and Current Alumni Association President Larry Lilley.
Larry Lilley had the honor of throwing out the first pitch at the game. Here, our group watches as Larry heads down to the field and prepares for his big moment.
Then, Larry hurled the old ball right to the catcher! Great job, Larry!
After the first pitch, JCHS Alumni Association Board Member De-Dee Foti was handed the microphone.
As usual, De-dee blew the roof off the place with a rousing rendition of the national Anthem.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Larry and De-dee exited the field to great fanfare.
Our folks then began to take their seats in premium seats just off the third base line.
Having a great time at the ballpark were (left to right) Sue Campbell, De-Dee Foti and Larry Lilley—all JCHS Alumni Association Board Members.
Here's Larry reenacting his big moment throwing out the first pitch. We'll always have the memories of that great moment, Larry!
