Date: Friday, September 16, 2011 - 12:00am On Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, new exterior signage was installed at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital, home to the campus of JCHS. Crews began working early on that morning, beginning with a large square sign that once resided on the Reid Center, the former home of the College, which is now being demolished. Large trucks with cranes took over our front driveway, just outside of the third floor lobby entrance. Then, the crew moved our first sign into place. Soon, it began rising into the air, guided by two crews member in a basket lift nearby. Closer and closer it moved to the tower just over the third floor lobby entrance. A large crowd on the ground even gathered to watch the delicate maneuvering that the crews were undertaking to get the sign in just the right place. This sign will face down Jefferson Street, toward Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. We have plans to soon place additional signage on the side of our building that faces Interstate 581. The sign was mounted to the tower using long screws that were drilled into its concrete core. The sign will soon be illuminated so we shine brightly over the whole Roanoke Valley! We thank the crews for helping us get our new sign in place and look forward to seeing our name in lights in locations all across the JCHS campus at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital!
