Jefferson College 2014 Veteran's Day Luncheon

The Veteran's Day luncheon is an annual event recognizing the veterans at Jefferson College among our students, faculty and staff. Attendees enjoyed a catered meal, as well as a presentation of items collected by the College and Carilion community for the VA Hospital in Salem, Virginia.

Jefferson Student Affairs Department Secretary Debbie Stinnett created the idea of doing "Wish Fish," in which members of the Jefferson community could pick a vet from a bulletin board and buy the items they needed. Jefferson's Educational Testing Center Coordinator Sonya Franklin, along with many of our work-study students, made the fish and spread the word. We collected several boxes of items from the wish list.

We were joined by Barrett Bass from the VA Hospital who accepted the items. The Jefferson College CASE committee sponsored this event.
