Tuition Exchange Program

The Tuition Exchange (TE) program (www.tuitionexchange.org) provides a national scholarship exchange program for family members of full-time employees among its members of approximately 580 colleges and universities. The primary obligation of a member institution is to maintain a balanced exchange pattern, a reasonable match between student "exports" and student "imports."

A member institution may import as many as it wishes. It may not, however, export more than it imports. Institutions with many applicants may limit the number of TE Scholarships it awards. All students must seek admission to the partner institution which determines admission and admission procedures.

The following guidelines are applicable to Jefferson College of Health Sciences employees who participate in the program.

  1. ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEE:
Any currently employed Jefferson College of Health Sciences employee, who has 3 years of continuous full-time employment.

  2. FAMILY MEMBER:
Any child born to an employee, legally adopted by an employee, or of whom legal guardianship can be documented.

  3. APPLICANT:
the family member of an eligible employee who has applied for full-time admission in an undergraduate program to a college or university that participates in the Tuition Exchange (TE) program. Scholarships are typically not granted for graduate study, non-degree study or second undergraduate degrees. Note: *A few schools offer graduate level scholarships, please review the TE website (
    www.tuitionexchange.org) for this information.

  4. MAXIMUM SCHOLARSHIP:
TE scholarships will not exceed a maximum of four years or eight semester units per eligible employee. The eight semester units may be divided among dependent children of an eligible employee, but a TE scholarship will be awarded to only one child of an eligible employee at a time, and each child must undertake the eligibility and application process.

  5. Your Tuition Exchange Liaison Officer is:
    Debra A. Johnson

  6. By November 30 of each academic year family members of Jefferson College of Health Sciences who are seeking TE will notify the TE Liaison Officer of intent to apply by completing the JCHS TE Initial Application Form.

    By December 5 of
each academic year, JCHS will be in a position to determine how many new students can be certified.

  7. If the number of applicants is equal to the number of TE scholarships available, each applicant will be given the opportunity to apply for a TE scholarship.

  8. If the number of applicants exceeds the number of TE scholarships, candidates will be selected on the following priority ranking:
  • Seniority of the employee/parent will be used for first time applicants.
  • Academic Performance (High School GPA or College GPA).
  • One Scholar per family or no more than one in school at the same time.
  • If multiple applicants are equal in above criteria, selection will be by lottery.
