On Friday, May 10, 2013, JCHS celebrated our Spring Commencement Ceremony at the Roanoke Civic Center in Roanoke, Virginia.  JCHS Master of Science in Nursing Graduation Celebration - May 7, 2013
The JCHS Master of Science in Nursing Program held a ceremony to celebrate the imminent graduation of their class of 2013 on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Vinton War Memorial in Vinton, Virginia.  2013 JCHS Research Finale - April 30, 2013
On Tuesday, April 30, 2013, JCHS held our Research Finale, the annual event that celebrates and highlights our faculty's academic and research accomplishments throughout the year.  JCHS Participates in "Marrow Match Drive" - March 20, 2013
On Wednesday, March 20, 2013, JCHS collaborated with the Jefferson Center and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine to host one of three "Marrow Match Drives" in Roanoke.  Roanoke City Fire Prevention Unit's Safety House Visits JCHS for Statewide Emergency Drill -
March 12, 2013
On Tuesday, March 12, 2013, Jefferson College of Health Sciences participated in the Virginia Statewide Tornado Drill and JCHS Campus Fire Safety Event. As part of this drill, The Roanoke City Fire Prevention Unit brought their "Safety House" to campus for us. Click here to see the slideshow!

 Seventh Annual A Taste of Jefferson Day -
Feb. 27, 2013
On Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 the JCHS Student Affairs Department sponsored our seventh annual, "A Taste of Jefferson Day," a progressive food tasting event. Students, faculty and staff were invited to "travel" through different countries with each participating program or department, sampling food and having their passports stamped. The 2012 JCHS Winter Commencement Ceremony was held on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 at the Roanoke Civic Center in Roanoke, Virginia. The ceremony took place in The Performing Arts Theatre, and we welcomed 128 new graduates into the ranks of our alumni from programs like Physician Assistant, Occupational Therapy, Nursing and Biomedical Sciences.  JCHS 5K Riverside Run & Wellness Walk - November 10, 2012
The inaugural JCHS 5K Riverside Run & Wellness Walk, presented by Medical Facilities of America, an Exclusive Provider of LifeWorks Rehab, was held on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012. Over 200 runners and walkers joined us for our 3.1 mile course in downtown Roanoke and on the Roanoke River Greenway. Click here to see the slideshow!

Commencement Ceremony - June 10, 2011
On Friday, June 10, 2011, the JCHS Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Program graduated its first class as part of the College during a commencement ceremony in the sixth floor auditorium at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. On Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, the JCHS Physician Assistant Program held their 2010 White Coat Ceremony at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in downtown Roanoke, Virginia. Eighty-one graduates became alumni after receiving their M.S. degrees from the Physician Assistant or Occupational Therapy Programs and B.S., A.S. or A.A.S. degrees from the Biomedical Sciences, Respiratory Therapy, Science and Nursing Programs. On Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, JCHS hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House Reception in celebration of our new spaces at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital. At the event, we welcomed colleagues from Carilion Clinic, local governments, other colleges and universities, and more. Activities kicked off with remarks from JCHS President Nathaniel L.  Take Back the Night 2010 - April 20, 2010
On Tuesday, April 20, 2010, JCHS held our first annual Take Back the Night event on campus. The event was hosted by the JCHS VOICE (Violence Can End) Program and included speakers from JCHS, Carilion Clinic, SARA (Sexual Assault Response and Awareness) and Mrs. Gil Harrington, mother of Morgan Harrington. There was also an open forum for anyone who wanted to speak about their personal experiences and offer hope. On July 16, 1969, Apollo 11 launched from the Kennedy Space Center carrying crew members Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. Four days later, Armstrong became the first man to step on the moon. Forty years later, the JCHS Occupational Therapy and Occupational Therapy Assistant Departments celebrated this historic event with a fun, interactive display on July 20, 2009.  JCHS Physician Assistant Program Makes a Donation to Trust House - June 10, 2009
The Captain Sean Grimes Student Society of the Jefferson College of Health Sciences (JCHS) Physician Assistant (PA) Program received one of two national “Project-in-A-Box” Healthy Community Awards from the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) in May 2009. As a result of this award, the JCHS PA Program received $500 for the student society and $500 to be presented to a charity of their choice in Roanoke. The Star Line, a new trolley bus with a nostalgic design, debuted on Nov. 12, 2008 with a weekday loop connecting downtown Roanoke with Carilion Memorial Hospital and stops in between. The downtown trolley network aims to provide hospital employees, patients and their families, downtown workers and visitors a convenient alternative to get around without having to drive and find parking. On Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, over 200 JCHS students, alumni, faculty, staff and their families attended a home game of the Salem Avalanche Baseball Team in Salem, Virginia. It was a chance for us all to get away from the academic grind and have some fun!

 Virginia Commonwealth Games Kickoff at JCHS - July 18, 2008
On Friday, July 18, 2008 we hosted an event on campus to welcome the Coventry Virginia Commonwealth Games’ 2008 featured speaker: Ethan Zohn, winner of Survivor: Africa, the third season of the long-running CBS reality series. The event took place in the third floor lobby area of CRCH and was a great success.

 The Great JCHS Squirrel Capture! - February 2008
In early February 2008, a squirrel fell into the pit on the side of the Reid Center facing the Community Hospital Building. After watching him try to escape for three days, the folks in Science and Mathematics decided to help him out. Mike Slaughter brought in a live capture trap and he was finally lured in with peanut butter and pretzels (the squirrel, not Mike). - First Annual JCHS Spirit Day - Jan. 8, 2008
.gif) On Jan. 8, 2008, JCHS held its first annual Spirit Day! The event, which took place in the Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital building lobby, was a "pep-rally" with free food, as well as music and fun for the whole college community, school alumni and friends of JCHS. At the event, we introduced the newest addition to the JCHS family - Jeff, the Blue Healer, our new college mascot!
