Did YOU Get in the Spirit?
On Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, JCHS held Spirit Day! The event, which took place from noon to 2 p.m. in the Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital building lobby, was a “pep-rally” with free food, as well as music and fun for the whole college community, school alumni and friends of JCHS.
At the event, we introduced the newest addition to the JCHS family - Jeff, the Blue Healer (see picture at right), our new college mascot! Jeff attended in person and had his picture taken with over 50 of those who celebrated with us.

In addition, we highlighted our new program, One Jefferson Community Hours, and all of the great activities associated with the program.Click here to visit the One Jefferson Community Hours webpage.
Spirit Day also attracted the attention of our local media. Check out these great stories about the day, covered by both TV and the newspaper:
Did YOU Get a Taste of Jefferson?

On Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, Jefferson Activities Group (JAG) sponsored a “progressive” food tasting event. The College Community was invited to “travel” through different countries with each participating program or department, sampling food, and having their passports stamped for a chance to win prizes. In addition, participants had the chance to vote for their favorite "countries" as they passed through distant lands right in our own building!
The "country" voted most popular by participants was Italy, hosted by the PTA, OTA and HES departments. They will hold the coveted Sombrero of Honor until our next competition.
Other departments hosting countries included: - Admissions Office (Greece) - Registrar Office (China) - Student Services (Mexico) - Paramedic and Fire Science (Germany) - Respiratory Therapy (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - Communications and Alumni Relations (France) - Learning Resource Center (Spain)
