The National Intramural Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) has named Jefferson College of Health Sciences' (JCHS) Athletics Advisor Dave Eckes as the National NIRSA Coach of the Year. Dave advises several sports clubs at JCHS, including tennis, cross country and spring track. His selection by the NIRSA was based on JCHS's participation in the Collegiate Club Tennis program that is sponsored by the United States Tennis Association. JCHS has been participating in this program for the past two years.

Last month, Dave was selected as one of 12 national finalists in the competition, representing the mid-Atlantic region by being named the Professional Tennis Ace Sectional Award Coach of the Year. Recently, he was notified that he had been chosen as the National Coach of the Year.

NIRSA will make a presentation to Dave during the opening ceremonies of their annual conference in Austin, TX on Wednesday, April 2. Congratulations to Dave on the award and thanks for all of your hard work in literally getting the JCHS Athletics program up and running!
