Coordinator of Residence Life

Stephanie Simpson

Welcome to our community! Whether you are a new or returning student, I look forward to working with each of you in the exciting year ahead. I was born in California, but have lived on the east coast for most of my life. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree from Roanoke College where I took advantage of many enriching opportunities, one of those being residential living. My experience at Roanoke, serving as a Resident Advisor and living in a residence hall, showed me the lasting impact of a strong community. I am confident that you will also gain invaluable lessons, memories, and opportunities that come with being part of a fun and supportive community. I hope that you find a home away from home here at Jefferson College. See you soon!

Resident Advisors, also known as RAs, are student paraprofessionals who live in the Patrick Henry residence hall. RAs are primarily responsible for getting to know all students in the residence hall and helping to build a strong community. RAs provide a variety of social and educational programs for residents, carry out administrative functions associated with the residence hall, and uphold College policies, state and federal law. Additionally, one RA is on duty every night of the week beginning at 8pm and concluding at 7am the next morning in order to assist with any student issues that arise.

It’s like Alan just with a C in front of it. I’m from Richmond and majoring in health sciences. Roanoke is a real cool place to live and has a lot to offer. I, like many others, love the first three seasons of Spongebob and watching NFL on Sundays. Other interests of mine include reading, running, and watching movies. If you like Dinosaur Egg Oatmeal, we are now friends.

Cora Cox, Resident Advisor

When I find the time, I enjoy being home with my dog, cooking, and soaking up the sunshine. I have lived in the Patrick Henry every year and I love living downtown. This will be my second year being an RA. I love meeting new residents, so stop by and say hi! I hope you all will enjoy living in the PH as much as I do!

Sandy Paul, Resident Advisor

sandy paulHi! I’m the third floor Resident Advisor! I’m a senior in the Biomedical Sciences Program. I’m not quite sure what I want to do with my degree, but I’m certain I want to go into surgery. I was born in Haiti and I moved directly to Roanoke, VA when I was two years old. I love playing with Lex, my black Labrador retriever outdoors. I enjoy creating DIYs (Do It Yourself), learning about nutrition, and everything afro natural hair. This year is going to be a great year when you’re my resident!

Stephanie Alston, Resident Advisor

stephanie alstonHey y'all!  I'm Stephanie and I'm a Health Sciences major with aspirations of attending grad school for occupational therapy in fall 2017.  I haven't lived in Roanoke long, but in a short period of time, I've fallen in love with it and I'm sure you will too.  If I find myself with some free time, I love exploring the downtown area and hiking some of the great hikes the Roanoke Valley has to offer.  PH is an excellent place to live, and I can't wait to get to know everything even more throughout this year!
