Physician Assistant Students Assist with 2017 Point-in-Time Survey

Wednesday, January 25 2017

The Blue Ridge Interagency Council on Homelessness [BRICH] conducted the annual Point-in-Time count of people experiencing homelessness in the Roanoke Valley on January 25, 2017. The Physician Assistant students, for the fourth year, went out in teams with City of Roanoke HAT Team members, police and Jefferson College faculty to survey those folks who were sleeping outside. As future healthcare providers they are well-trained to make the health assessments critical to identifying those needing immediate medical care.  In addition, they donated much needed winter gear—hats, gloves, scarves, coats and more—to those folks who needed them.
