| Description: | This year, the American Heart Association's Wear Red Day will be held Friday, Feb. 1 at CRMH and Friday, Feb. 15 at CNRV. You're invited to wear red and support these events to raise awareness about the dangers of heart disease and help you be healthy.
Roanoke-based Cardiac and Vascular Services will host activities from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Sixth Floor Auditorium at CRMH on Friday, Feb. 1. CNRV Cardiovascular Services and Health Education will offer activities from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Fireside Room B at CNRV on Friday, Feb. 15.
Both events will provide information and tips for maintaining a healthy heart and activities will include:
Blood pressure screenings and hypertension education.
Smoking cessation education.
Lung function tests performed by respiratory therapists.
Exercise and fitness tips.
Stress reduction information including massages, aromatherapy and acupuncture.
Diabetes education.
Body mass index/body fat analyzer.
Prizes.
Heart healthy food samples and recipes.
Free cholesterol screenings from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Pre-registration for the cholesterol screening is required through Carilion Direct at 540-266-6000. To get an accurate screening, you must fast for 12 hours before your scheduled time. |
