| Jefferson College of Health Sciences (JCHS) has scheduled a safety event on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event will be open to all JCHS students, faculty and staff, as well as all Carilion Clinic employees on the campus of Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital (CRCH).
Participants will have the opportunity to tour the Roanoke City Fire Prevention Unit’s Interactive Safety House that will place you in the middle of a simulated tornado and show you how quickly a fire can start in your home or residence hall room. Additional information will be provided on how to safely handle these situations.
The Interactive Safety House is contained in a 29-foot trailer, which will be set up outside of the third floor lobby area. This will allow participants to safely stand in line under cover and on a sidewalk. The three simulations will last approximately 10-15 minutes and can accommodate a dozen participants at a time.
The tornado portion of the event is being offered in recognition of the Statewide Tornado Drill, also taking place on March 12.
Please join us for this important safety event offered by JCHS and the Roanoke City Fire Prevention Unit! You'll be glad you did! |
