The Captain Sean Grimes Student Society of the Jefferson College of Health Sciences (JCHS) Physician Assistant (PA) Program received one of two national “Project-in-A-Box” Healthy Community Awards from the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) in May 2009. The JCHS PALS project involved first-year PA students providing afterschool presentations on organ systems to encourage health literacy and scientific interest in local elementary school students. As a result of this award, the JCHS PA Program received $500 for the student society and $500 to be presented to a charity of their choice in Roanoke.
