The Cultural Awareness and Service Excellence (C.A.S.E.) committee invites you to A Conversation with JoAnn Underwood, nurse, educator and ally.

Lessons from the life of an award-winning pioneer in LGBTQ advocacy.

After starting her career as a nurse in the Virginia Tech infirmary, Mrs. Underwood became the university’s first health educator, earning her master’s degree in health promotion. Throughout her career, she has promoted safe sex, contraceptives, sexual assault prevention, LGBTQ acceptance, and HIV education. When she received Tech’s “Ally of the Year” award in 2014, it was renamed in her honor.
