The College Administrative Team (CAT) has approved required, annual, in-service education for all college employees concerning disability accommodations and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). College work-study students will only take the FERPA module.
Jefferson College students are best served when employees understand and appropriately apply the federal laws and statutes which govern these topical areas.
You will receive your initial assignment for the Disability Accommodations module via the Carilion Cornerstone system on 15 August. The FERPA module should be available for assignment on 1 September. These modules will become annual assignments and you will typically have 30 days to complete them from the assigned date. This year, due to the staggered roll-out of the courses, the completion date for both courses is 30 September.
New employees are required to complete these in-services within the first 30 days of employment.
