Join us for this presentation on the healthcare mission trip to Uganda undertaken in October 2016 by Dr. Wilton Kennedy and Jefferson College Physician Assistant students Aly Schroeder, Kristen Peanasky, Laura Peters Cunningham and Ashlyn Baird.
The group assisted with healthcare at St. Angela's School in Uganda. The mission was sponsored by the Jefferson College PA Student Society and the CASE Committee, in conjunction with Global Health Educators. St. Angela's is a school, orphanage and hospital for children, many of whom have albinism. These kids have have few resources but LOVE playing “football.” Or, soccer as we know it in the U.S. So, before the group from Jefferson left, they led an an effort to collect soccer balls, wide brimmed hats and other items needed by the kids there.
This presentation will give the Jefferson College community an opportunity to see the results of the trip, as well as the soccer ball donation drive held on campus in September and sponsored by the CASE committee and PA Student Society.
In addition you will hear about the ongoing projects that the PA students were involved with while there and an opportunity to hear from the travelers what it was like to deliver care and training to the local Ugandan community.
