JCHS VOICE Program Services

JCHS VOICE

The partners of the VOICE Program work corroboratively to provide prevention education programs and victim services to the JCHS community around the issues of sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, and stalking. Services include:

  • Advocacy and counseling services. The VOICE Program provides supportive crisis intervention including educational, medical and legal advocacy services. The JCHS Counseling Department provides therapeutic, long-term counseling services.
     
  • Judicial services. Any form of sexual misconduct or relationship abuse may result in criminal and/or civil legal action. It is also a serious violation of the College’s values and expectations. Thus, sexual misconduct and other forms of abuse are punishable through the College judicial system. 
     
  • Carilion Police Department response and services.
     
  • Educational programs on sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, and stalking. 
     
  • Training is provided on sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, and stalking issues for student leaders, Resident Assistants, faculty, staff and administration.
     
  • Representation on local and state advisory councils. 
     
  • Bystander Campaigns to promote active bystander responsibility.
     
  • Events to raise awareness about sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, and stalking issues.
     
  • Self-defense classes are provided each semester, free of cost.
     
  • New Student Orientation includes a section on sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, stalking, and how to be an active bystander.
