Fall 2015 New Student Orientation
New students for the fall 2015 semester are required to attend New Student Orientation (NSO) on the following date:
Monday, August 17 - Undergraduate & Graduate Students
In order to accommodate all new students, orientation will be held at First Baptist Church (515 3rd Street, SW) in the Faith Chapel. Directions and a parking map can be found here. Check-in for NSO is from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., with the first presentation beginning promptly at 8 a.m. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided for new students.
Please note that seating is limited. As such, you must register to attend. Registration instructions can be found at the bottom of this page. Additionally, orientation is for students only. Please do not bring parents, family, friends, or children with you; there will not be space to accommodate them. Thank you!
NSO will end by 1:00 p.m. Following NSO, College facilities and offices will be open for you to visit on their regular department schedules. If you are interested in meeting with your advisor or professors during these open-house periods, please contact them or your department secretary directly to make an appointment.
In addition, new students are required to attend the Convocation Ceremony as part of orientation. Details about this event are available below. Information about college ID badges is also available below.
Who: Mandatory for all new students starting undergraduate and graduate programs for the fall 2015 semester.
What: The Convocation Ceremony is the formal start to your College experience--much as commencement is the formal conclusion. Faculty will process, during the ceremony, with caps and gowns. Students should dress appropriately (something you would wear to a graduation ceremony). A reception will follow the ceremony.
When: Tuesday, August 18, 2015. Doors open for seating at 8 a.m. The ceremony will run from 9 to 11 a.m.
Where: St. John's Episcopal Church (1 Mountain Avenue Southwest, Roanoke). Students will be able to park in College parking areas and walk to the ceremony.
*As with New Student Orientation, this event is for Jefferson College students, faculty, and staff only. Due to limited seating, please do not bring parents, family, friends, or children with you; there will not be space to accommodate them. Thank you!
