Janet is the program director for the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management and the Master of Health Administration. Prior to coming to JCHS as an assistant professor, Janet was Senior Director for Clinical Effectiveness and a member of the senior management team at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRV). She received her bachelor of science in nursing from the University of New York and her master of business administration and graduate certificate in public administration from Old Dominion University. Most recently, she received her Doctor of Health Science from Nova Southeastern University. Janet has worked as a registered nurse in obstetrics, med/surg nursing, and long term care. She also worked with the Virginia Medical Assistance Program, evaluating regulatory compliance in acute and long term care settings. While leading the quality improvement efforts at CNRV, Thomson Reuters, a global healthcare information company, twice recognized CNRV as a Top 100 Hospital Performance Improvement Leader.
Janet holds certification as a healthcare quality professional from the National Association for Healthcare Quality. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is certified in healthcare management. She enjoys music, loves sports (is a dedicated Yankee’s fan), and relaxes with reading and needlework. Janet resides in Dublin with her husband and their faithful dog, Maggie.
