On Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Roanoke Civic Center, members of the JCHS Student Nurses Association (SNA) volunteered at the 2012 Roanoke Mission of Mercy Project. For the past four years, the Roanoke Mission of Mercy Project has provided $2.7 million in free dental services to over 4,000 adults in the Roanoke Valley and surrounding areas. The event is conducted one weekend each year and uses portable dental equipment for cleanings, x-rays, oral surgery and fillings. The Roanoke Mission of Mercy is brought to the Roanoke Valley through a partnership with the Community Based Health Care Coalition and the Council of Community Services. Support from the Virginia Dental Association, Carilion Clinic, Delta Dental of Virginia, United Way of Roanoke Valley, VCU School of Dentistry and many other sponsors has allowed this clinic to continue into its fifth year.
